Pausanias´s testimony about the existence of a mirror in the cella of the Temple of Despoina at Lykosoura (Paus., 8,37,7):
„Ἐν δεξιᾷ δὲ ἐξιόντι ἐκ τοῦ ναοῦ κάτοπτρονἡρμοσμένον ἐστὶν ἐν τῷ τοίχῳ. τοῦτο ἢν τις προσβλέπῃ τὸ κάτοπτρον,ἑαυτὸν μὲν ἤτοιπαντάπασιν ἀμυδρῶς ἦ οὐδὲ ὄψεται [τὴν] ἀρχήν,τὰδὲ ἀγάλματα τῶν θεῶν καὶ αὐτὰ καὶ τὸν θρόνονἔστιν ἐναργῶς θεάσασθαι“ (Paus. 8, 37, 7)
